**TL;DR** OPS are the unit that measures what you can do in the Raal portal each month, the way a data allowance or a monthly credit tier measures what you can use. Each plan includes a monthly allowance. A shipment with a Raal package uses 100 OPS, with your own package 50, customs clearance 20, and each accessory 10. Do not ask what one OPS is worth. Ask what a normal month looks like for your team, add up the operations, and pick the plan whose allowance covers it. Starter holds about one shipment a month, Pro about five, Business about fifteen. Extra OPS never expire. API calls, ordering through an AI assistant and some billing preferences also use OPS. The asset register does not. You can change plan at any time, from the next billing cycle.

When we ask customers what confused them about our pricing, the answer is almost always the same: "What is an OPS worth in euros?" It is a natural question. It is also the wrong one, and it is our job to make it unnecessary.

You do not buy OPS the way you buy a currency. You choose a plan the way you choose a data allowance on a phone plan or a monthly credit tier in any software tool you already use. Nobody works out what one megabyte costs. They ask how much they need in a month, and pick the plan that covers it. This guide shows you how to do that for Raal.

## What OPS Are

OPS stands for Operational Points. An OPS is a unit of measure for the work you can do in the Raal customer portal. Every plan comes with a monthly allowance of OPS, and every operation you run, such as sending a laptop to a new hire, collecting one from a leaver or arranging customs clearance, uses some of that allowance. The same goes for a few other operations in the portal, such as API calls, ordering through an AI assistant and certain billing preferences. The list is below.

**The one-line version:** your plan gives you a monthly amount of work you can do in Raal. OPS are how that amount is measured. The question to ask is not "what is one OPS?" but "how much do I need in a month?"

## What Each Operation Uses

| OPERATION | OPS USED | WHAT IT COVERS |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Transport with a Raal package | 100 | Raal sends a purpose-built transit box, arranges the pickup and delivery, and tracks the shipment |
| Transport with your own package | 50 | You supply the packaging, Raal handles the movement and communication with the sender |
| Customs clearance | 20 | Documentation and clearance for a cross-border shipment |
| Accessory | 10 each | A charger, mouse, headset or similar item added to a shipment |
| API call | 2 | Each call to the Raal API (Pro and above) |
| AI-assistant (MCP) actions | See the pricing page | Ordering and lookups through an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT (Pro and above) |
| Pay after fulfilment | 20 | A billing preference: pay once the order is fulfilled instead of when you place it |
| Monthly consolidated invoice | 500/month | A billing preference: one invoice a month instead of one per order |

Paying at order placement, the default, uses none. The [pricing page](/pricing) has the complete, current list.

One transport operation covers both movements in a send-and-return job: the box goes out to the employee and the device comes back to you. You do not use a second transport for the way back.

## What a Month Looks Like on Each Plan

Two separate choices sit behind a subscription. The plan decides which customer portal capabilities you get. The OPS quantity decides how much you can do with them each month, and you choose it for every plan to match your month.

| Plan | Customer portal capabilities |
| --- | --- |
| Starter | Asset register, team access, device-sale buyer network |
| Pro | Everything in Starter, plus HR sync, roles, API, AI-assistant access, priority support |
| Business | Everything in Pro, plus single sign-on, an SLA and a success manager |
| Enterprise | Everything in Business, plus ERP and ITSM integrations and finance and audit reports |

Here is the allowance side as capacity. These are examples of what a month can hold, mixed however your month looks. The pricing page shows the OPS quantities available on each plan.

| PLAN | OPS per month (example) | A MONTH CAN HOLD, FOR EXAMPLE | PLAN PRICE (YEARLY / MONTHLY BILLING) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Starter | 100 | 1 shipment with a Raal package, or 2 shipments with your own package, or 1 own-package shipment with customs and 3 accessories | €159 / €179 a month |
| Pro | 500 | 5 shipments with a Raal package, or 4 cross-border shipments with customs and 2 accessories | €539 / €599 a month |
| Business | 1,500 | 15 shipments with a Raal package, or 12 cross-border shipments with customs and 6 accessories | €1,439 / €1,599 a month |
| Enterprise | Custom | Sized with you | Custom |

Yearly billing gives you 13 months of OPS up front for the year, and the yearly rate is lower than paying monthly. The courier cost is separate on every plan and is covered below.

## Size Your Own Month in Five Minutes

**HOW TO FIND YOUR TIER**

1. **List a normal month.** Not your busiest month, and not your quietest. Think of the last three months and take the typical one.
2. **Count each operation.** How many shipments, with your own package or ours? How many cross a border and need customs? How many accessories?
3. **Add up the OPS.** Use the table above. Shipments with our package are 100, with yours 50, customs 20, accessories 10 each.
4. **Pick the tier that covers a normal month.** Slightly above is better than slightly below. Or use the [plan recommender](/recommender), a calculator that suggests a plan.
5. **Plan for the busy months with a top-up.** You do not need a bigger tier for a single hiring spike.

### Example 1: a team that sends one laptop a month

A 25-person company hires about one person a month and sends the laptop to wherever that person lives. Mostly, it is one shipment with a Raal package, which is 100 OPS. That is exactly a Starter month. In a month where the hire is abroad and needs customs clearance, the total is 120, which is a little over, so the company tops up 20 OPS, sends it with its own package for 50 plus 20, or subscribes to a Starter plan with 200 OPS a month

### Example 2: a team onboarding four or five people a month

A 60-person company sends three laptops a month with a Raal package (300), collects one from a leaver with its own package (50), clears customs on two of those shipments (40) and adds four accessories (40). That is 430 OPS, which fits inside a Pro month with room to spare.

### Example 3: a scale-up moving devices every week

A 300-person company runs about twelve cross-border shipments a month with customs and six accessories in total. That is 1,500 OPS, which is a Business month.

These are illustrations, not recommendations for your company. Your own list in the process above takes five minutes and is the answer that matters.

## What Happens When You Need More

On a subscription, you can add OPS whenever you need them. Top-up OPS never expire, and they are used before your plan's monthly OPS. That means a busy month does not force you into a bigger plan, and the OPS you add are never wasted. The rates are listed on the pricing page.

## What Does Not Use OPS

It helps to be clear about what is outside the allowance, because most pricing confusion comes from mixing these up.

- **The asset register.** The register, team access come with Starter and above. Using the register does not use OPS, and it has no usage limit.
- **The courier.** On subscription plans the carrier charge is separate. It is passed through at cost, so you pay what Raal pays the courier, shown before you confirm each order.
- **Insurance.** Full replacement-value insurance is included in the shipment price.

## Why This Does Not Need to Be a Budgeting Exercise

The point of OPS is not to limit how many people use Raal or how many devices you keep in it. You get access to most of the platform. The allowance matches the operations you do in the portal to the tier you choose, so you pick a size that fits your needs and how your team works.

That is why this is not a forecasting exercise. You are not predicting a number down to the last unit, you are choosing a size, and you can resize. Upgrade or downgrade your subscription whenever your needs change, and the change applies from your next billing cycle. If the first tier you pick turns out too small or too large, the next month's tier can be different.

## Why OPS Instead of One Price Per Shipment

It is a fair question. We measure in OPS because the work is not uniform. Sending a laptop in our box is a different amount of work from sending one in yours. Customs clearance is a separate piece of work again, and so is an accessory. A single price per shipment would hide those differences or force you into fixed bundles. A unit lets you mix the work however your month looks, and lets us add new kinds of operation over time without inventing a new price list each time.

The tradeoff is the one you are reading about: a unit is harder to picture than a price. That is why we show capacity first.

## Common Mix-Ups

\*\*"OPS are money that leaves my account with every click."\*\*No. They are the monthly allowance that your plan provides. Using them does not charge you anything extra, until you choose to top up.

**"We do not ship enough to need a plan."** If you ship once or twice a quarter, you probably do not. Pay As You Go is the default for every new customer. It has no monthly fee and no allowance, and you pay for each order when you place it. A plan makes sense when your month has regular work in it, or when you want the register, integrations to build automations, or SSO.

**"I have to get the tier exactly right."** You do not. Pick the tier that covers a normal month, top up for a busy one, and change tier at the next billing cycle if your month changes.

**"A subscription is a commitment to buy logistics."** It is a commitment to an allowance and to the register. A quiet month is not a penalty. It is a month you did not need the capacity.

## What to Tell Your Finance Team

If a plan needs sign-off, the simplest summary is this: a Raal plan is a subscription that includes a monthly allowance of operations and the asset register. The allowance is sized to the work your team does in a normal month, and it can be topped up in a busy one. It is not a promise to buy a certain amount of logistics, and an unused allowance in a quiet month is not a fee for something you did not receive. Finance teams that ask "how many logistics orders will we place?" are asking about the allowance. The better question is whether the register and the monthly capacity fit how the team works.

## What If Your Month Changes

Teams grow, hire in bursts and slow down. A plan is not a lock. If your normal month gets bigger, move to the next tier. If you find that you rarely use the allowance, that is useful information too, and Pay As You Go may suit you better. Either way, the exercise is the same: write down a normal month, add up the operations and compare. Do it again when something changes, such as a new office, a hiring push or a move into a country that needs customs on every shipment.

## Which Plan Fits

As a guide, based on what we see across customers:

- **Pay As You Go:** one or two shipments a quarter.
- **Starter:** roughly 5 to 50 employees, a shipment or so a month, and a need to keep an accurate register.
- **Pro:** roughly 50 to 200 employees. Adds HR sync, roles, API and AI-assistant (MCP) ordering, and priority support.
- **Business:** roughly 200 to 1,000 employees. Adds SSO, an SLA and a success manager.
- **Enterprise:** 1,000 employees and above, with ERP and ITSM integrations and finance and audit reports.

Headcount is a rough proxy. Your own monthly list is the better guide, and the plan can change as your month does.
